I am glad to announce my upcoming third one--man exhibit entitled "Interventions". This will be held at Galerie Anna, SM Megamall. Opening reception wil be at 6 pm, Monday, October 10. The show runs through October 24. I've prepared several large oil paintings, complemented with some pastel collages. These are my most ambitious works to date. Hope you can drop by and see my works.

It's so wonderful to be back here in the Emerald City, Seattle! With the cool breeze, this is a welcome change from the very humid weather back in the Philippines. Tomorrow will be the 25th anniversary celebration of Pagdiriwang Festival at the Seattle Center. I'm privileged to be a part of this group as they enthusiastically promote and spread the cultural goodwill of the Filipino people through dance, music, arts, film and various performances. I also had a blast curating the group art exhibit at the Harrison Street Gallery of which I'm also a part of. It's a rewarding experience to be with fellow kababayans who're proud of their heritage. Kudos to all the groups who -with glamour and pride- continue to educate and promote all that is good of us Filipinos.

I have been enjoying my time sketching with the FilPortrait group. For every whole sheet of Canson paper, I look forward to the challenge of capturing the sitter's likeness. The model is normally instructed to do one single pose for about 3 hours, in-between 30-minute shifts.

The general comment I get is that my sketches are almost "finished" in quality, and looks more like a completed pastel work. This is because of my training in producing pastel works without showing the strokes. Because this is on-the-spot, the rawness and immediacy of the situation is a welcome change for me, and so far, I do like the results. Presented here are some of my recent sketches.

Happy sketching,
Grandier
